The purpose of this report is to provide a scholarly discussion of the major themes, dilemmas and questions that researchers, supervisors and educational ethics committees will need to consider when they develop or evaluate the ethical implications of Maori research. This report progresses through a number of key themes and elements developed through extensive literature searching and consultation with leading researchers in the field of kaupapa Maori research - history, the emergence of a Maori method of research, issues with relevance to ethical procedures and protocols, and the identification of practical guidelines to inform and support those involved.
