Lava flows and domes, layers of pumice ash, geyser cones, mudpools, and silica terraces record this eventful history. Some of these features, especially the geysers, are spectacular on a world scale. This booklet explains the volcanic and geothermal processes, and outlines three tours of the thermal and volcanic features in the Rotorua district.
